The Clintons will be vacationing in East Hampton (again) this summer. As in seasons past, when they stayed at estates near Wiborg Beach and Georgica Beach, this summer they will be at an estate near the water by the Devon Yacht Club in Amagansett, in a house looking towards Gardiner’s Island.
Their whereabouts, especially when one considers their security detail, makes it difficult for them to fly under the radar even when not on official business, such as taking a summer vacation. However, this year, a Huffington Post blogger has made a bold move and announced the street address where the Clintons will be in residence. Of course neighbors and bikers, runners or others passing a house with the Clintons in residence quickly become aware that someone very important is there because men with bulging jackets and wired ear-pieces hover at the end of sylvan driveways and in the fragrant summer shrubbery.

The New York Times has taken a more restrained and newsworthy approach to Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton’s summer vacation in the Hamptons. The paper of record notes that this will be a working vacation, at least in part, for the couple. They will host a fundraiser for the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation on August 9 at an undisclosed location in Water Mill belonging to Joan and George Hornig. The couple, and their house, were the subject of a profile in The New York Times in 2010. This event is an invitation only type shindig and tickets have not been hawked through the usual publicity and media channels. Tickets for the event start at $5,000 a person and “top out” at $50,000.
This year, all eyes are likely to be on Hillary Clinton, interpreting her every move as a barometric indicator of her intention to seek a run for the presidency, which she has said she will announce, yeah or nay, before the end of 2014.
