SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A code enforcement crackdown in parts of Southampton Town netted dozens of violations recently, officials said

Southampton Town code enforcement officers issued more than 60 notices of violation and eight field appearance tickets in a recent investigation of the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton neighborhoods, the town said.

The officers inspected the areas, street by street, and found several dozen property maintenance violations, ranging from illegal storage of car parts and abandoned vehicles to illegal parking and debris.

“This quality of life investigation is intended to ensure public safety in every neighborhood,” said Southampton Town Code Compliance and Emergency Management Administrator Steven Troyd. “We will not tolerate excessive parking and illegal storage of vehicles and car parts.”

The notice of violations give property owners 30 days to comply or face court appearances and possible fines — inspectors will return to make sure the properties have been cleaned up, the town said.
