'Farewell' To Organizers Of Gazebo Concerts, But Show To Go On

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A beloved summer tradition in Westhampton Beach is set for its final season, which will be a "farewell concert series," organizers said. But audiences don't have to worry — the popular concert series will go on next year under new leadership.

The Westhampton Cultural Consortium will hold its 32nd annual Gazebo Concert Series, the final of its summer concert series, from July 1 through Sept. 9 at the Westhampton Beach Village green, members of the group said.

For the past 32 years, the Westhampton Cultural Consortium has presented the free series that featured a mixture of rock 'n' roll, jazz, big band, show tunes, symphonic music, and more.

But, because founding consortium member James Hulme is retiring, the consortium will no longer be able to manage the series, a release said.

Fortunately, the show will go on: The Westhampton Free Library has generously agreed to continue the program in 2022 with the assistance of consortium co-chair Judith Bacher.

“We are so pleased to be able to work with the library to produce the series going forward,” said Bacher, who also serves on the board of the Friends of the Westhampton Free Library.

“The library is delighted to help keep this community tradition alive,” said Assistant Library Director Jay Janoski.

This year’s concert series schedule is below.

All concerts start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Westhampton Beach Village green. In the event of rain, the concerts will be held in the Westhampton Beach High School Auditorium.
