Fire was found in a utility room and quickly extinguished with a water can; the firefighters then brought in a hose line and searched for hidden fire, officials said. They opened up the floors and the walls of the utility room and a bedroom to expose some hidden fire, which
received a "generous dousing," the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said.
The department responded with two engines, a ladder truck, and a fire police vehicle; Southampton Town and Westhampton Beach Village police were also at the scene, officials said.
