Fire Breaks Out At Dune Road Home: Officials
Heavy smoke and fire could be seen on the ground level, firefighters say.
WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A fire broke out at a residence on Dune Road Thursday night, according to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department.
A call came in regarding a structure fire at a beachfront home just before 5 p.m. and no injuries were reported, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said in a release.
Captain Dave Slover, who was first at the scene, reported extremely heavy smoke conditions and visible fire on the ground floor, the fire department said. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a ground level storage and utility room and a first floor bathroom and bedroom, officials said.

Firefighters also opened up the outside walls to douse any residual flames, officials said. After the blaze was extinguished firefighters searched for remaining pockets of flames.
Dune Road was closed as firefighters knocked out the blaze, according to the WHBFD.

The Westhampton Beach Fire Department responded with two engines, a ladder truck, a rescue truck and the department’s fire police vehicle, officials said. In addition to chiefs, the Eastport and Quogue Fire Departments each responded with an engine, and the East Moriches Fire Department responded with a rapid intervention team. The East Quogue Fire Department stood standby at the Westhampton Beach Fire Department’s headquarters. The Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance and the East Moriches Ambulance were also on Dune Road, as were officers from the Southampton Town, Westhampton Village, and the Westhampton Dunes police departments.
Fire marshals are investigating to determine the cause of the fire, officials said.
