Firefighters Knock Down Flames On Dune Road Roof

The fire was contained to the roof, officials say.

WESTHAMPTON, NY — Firefighters knocked down flames on the roof of a Dune Road home Friday, officials said.

According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, a call came in just before 1 p.m. about a fire on Dune Road; the department’s first engine, with a crew that was at the firehouse when the call came in, was the first unit to arrive at the scene. The crew ran a hose line to the roof via interior stairs and was quickly able to knock down the fire they found on the flat roof, officials said.

Next, the department’s ladder truck arrived and the crew accessed the roof via the bucket and sawed holes in the roof, allowing the hose team to extinguish the pockets of fire that remained, officials said.
