Funeral Arrangements Set for Joseph Tandy, 29, of 106th Rescue Wing
Joseph Tandy was a technician at the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach and married his love in a fairy tale wedding they won in 2013.

NORTH FORK, NY: Joseph Edward Tandy of Southold died on February 23, 2016. He was 29 years old.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 26 from 2 pm. to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes, Inc., 13805 Main Road in Mattituck, New York 11952.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, 14300 Main Road in Mattituck, directly opposite the funeral home.

Interment, with United States Air Force honors, will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery, 30472 Main Road in Cutchogue.

Tandy, a 2005 graduate of Mattituck High School, married the love of his life Tara Buczak in a fairy tale ceremony after the military couple won a free wedding through Peconic Landing at Brecknock Hall.
They deployed together in 2012 to serve in Afghanistan; they returned to Mattituck in February 2013 and served as full-time technicians at the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach. Both come from military families with long records of giving back.
A GoFundMe page set up to help the family in their time of great need said that he had been hospitalized after a cardiac event; the GoFundMe has raised $22,500 in four days.
