Groundbreaking Kicks Off Renovations At Ponquogue Beach Facility
The Ponquogue Beach facility is "in need of some love," one resident said.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — It was good news for residents Tuesday as a groundbreaking was held to kick off renovations of the Ponquogue Beach facility in Hampton Bays.
Members of the Southampton Town Board were joined by residents for a ceremony to mark the commencement of the $3 million renovation, which is slated for completion by the start of next summer's season.
Construction contracts were awarded to three separate contractors, Construction Consultants, LLC for the general construction, Plumbwell Services for plumbing, and NY Trenchless for electrical work, a release from Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman said.

The facility will undergo various renovations including new IPE decking and railings, siding, roofing, cupolas, interior hardware and finishes, expanded deck space, a new entrance, additional shower, completely renovated restrooms and parking lot improvements.
Scores of residents expressed their ideas and thoughts about the renovation process through a process of polling and community meetings.

The beach pavilion, built in the 1960s, has weathered years of storms and, as one community member said, the facility is “in need of some love," the release said.
During the construction there will be no public access to the facility or parking lot. The demolition, use and storage of construction equipment and materials and parking lot work will require the entire site to be secured, town officials said.
