Gunshot Fired At Home With Man Barricaded Inside: Police

SPEONK, NY — A gunshot was heard inside a home in Speonk where a man was barricaded Friday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, a call came in about the 48-year-old man at 7:17 pm.; multiple officers responded, with the first arriving at the scene at 7:20 p.m. A perimeter was set up around the residence, police said.

Officers then heard a single gunshot from within the residence and attempted to contact the man, who was inside alone, by phone, police said.

Negotiators were able to contact the man inside the residence and convince him to exit the dwelling; he exited at 7:38 p.m.

He unharmed and taken into custody without incident, then transported to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.
