Hampton Bays Basketball Star Scores 2000th Point

Alexis Fotopolous is one of only 21 girls in Suffolk County who have achieved the milestone in the history of girls' high school basketball.

Hampton Bays High School basketball star Alexis Fotopolous won new accolades as she celebrated her 2000th career point at a home game against Miller Place on January 21.

Fotopolous is now one of only 21 girls in Suffolk County who have achieved such a milestone in the history of girls’ high school basketball.

“This is a great accomplishment for Alexis — she has worked very hard over the years to develop her skills and game,” said Drew Walker, director of health, physical education and athletics. “She has contributed so much to the Hampton Bays basketball program and helped lift the team to compete at a higher level.”

In addition to her new record, Fotopolous, a senior, also holds the title of all-time Hampton Bays leading point scorer. Additionally, Fotopolous, a six-year veteran of the girls’ basketball team, served as a starter on two Section XI Class B Championship teams. She has also participated in the Elks Club’s Foul Shooting Competition. Additionally, she has competed on several youth league teams.

Fotopolous will be attending Adelphi University next fall, as she signed a National Letter of Intent in early November.
