Historic $16.8 Million Seafield Lane Estate Changing Hands
The waterfront estate was originally designed for an oil baron.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A historic Westhampton Beach estate on Seafield Lane is changing hands.
According to a listing by Douglas Elliman Real Estate, "Now in contract, the $16.750 property, 66 Seafield Lane Westhampton Beach, had at one time been the most expensive listing west of the canal. The 16,000-square-foot waterfront estate, designed in 1903 for coal baron William Atwater by Lincoln Memorial architect Henry Bacon, has been host to many a notable visitor, as well as to a few grand fundraisers in more recent times.
A grand estate with 6.86 acres and 620 feet of water frontage on Quantuck Bay, the 24-room mansion has nine bedrooms, six fireplaces, nine full and two half-bath. A total of 44 century-old Catalpa trees line the front drive, making an impressive entrance through the tree-lined allee. Other highlights include 100-year-old grape vines, formal gardens, a Lord & Burnham greenhouse, a 56-foot Gunite pool by the water, and a deepwater dock."
