SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The Southampton community has opened its hearts to help a local woman who was hurt in a crash last week.

A GoFundMe page, "Help Leslie Carr Get Back On The Beach," was created by Annie Walters of Southampton.

"Our girl, LC, alongside three of her pups were injured in a head-on collision on March 15," the page said. "Leslie is currently being treated at Southampton Hospital for injuries sustained to her leg, ankle, and several broken ribs. Surgery is necessary to repair the extensive damage to her leg and ankle."

Leslie, a bartender at Canal Cafe in Hampton Bays, walks miles of shoreline daily, Walters said.

"With her pack of dogs at her side, Leslie would scour the shore for beach glass to add to her collection and of course, was always picking up trash left behind by others. That’s just the kind of person she — loving, caring, and conscientious. The sea is her escape," Walters said.

Due to her injuries, Walters said, Leslie will be unable to work for the next few months.

"We are looking to our loving community to help her out in this difficult time," she said.

Staffers at the Canal Cafe added: "Please help our girl — and everything counts."
