Locals Fundraise To Kick Off New Brewing Company
BREAKING: A portion of the brew's proceeds will benefit those in need, business owners say.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — There's a new batch of brewers set to take Westhampton Beach by storm — and they've got a collective heart of gold.
A GoFundMe page, "Westhampton Beach Brewing Company," has raised $1,875 of its $50,000 goal so far.
"Inspired by a family trip to Washington, DC during police week, the Westhampton Beach Brewing Company was born," business owners said, on the page.

"While dining at a small restaurant, we were able to purchase a pint of beer where a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Washington, DC police memorial. Our business model is very similar. We want to create a company with a business model based on philanthropy and human spirit. Our product will provide a sustainable flow of support for Long Islanders who have found themselves in a time of need," owners wrote.
"Westhampton Beach Brewing Co. will create a special brew, and for every pint sold a portion of the proceeds will be given to charity. Just imagine! A donation made now will grow and last for years. Now that's what I call a return on investment. Our next step includes you in this journey. Please help us attain this goal," the page reads.

In addition, they say, they have worked with local consultants to create a solid business plan based on research "that leaves no stone unturned", from startup costs to ongoing business and regulatory costs.
Brewmaster David DeTurris has been brewing professionally for years, they say. A graduate of Stony Brook University and former head brewer for John Harvard's Brew House of Lake Grove, he won best beer at the Tap New York Craft Beer and Food Festival in 2010, the said.
The goal, the team said, is to be open in expect to be open this spring. For additional information about Westhampton Beach Brewing Company, go to their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
