Long Island is Home to Most Expensive Zip Code in U.S.

We're not sure if it's an honor, but Long Island can now claim to be home to the most expensive zip code in the United States, at least when it comes to purchasing a home, according to a new list compiled by Business Insider.

Sagaponack (11962) in the Town of Southampton is tops on the list. The median home sale price in Sagaponack in 2015 was $8.5 million.

Of the 25 most expensive zip codes in the country, just one (Apline, N.J.) is not located in either New York or California, Business Insider reported.

Here are the other Long Island zip codes on the list:

No. 7- 11932, Bridgehampton (Median home sale price: $2,957,000)

No. 10- 11965, Shelter Island (Median home sale price: $2,797,500)

No- 13- 11976, Water Mill (Median home sale price: $2,675,000)

A similar Forbes list released last year of the most expensive zip codes ranked Atherton, Calif. as No. 1, just ahead of Sagaponack.
