Man Barricades Himself With Handgun At Hamptons Beach: Cops
A man who barricaded himself with a handgun is facing charges after a tense standoff at a popular Hampton Bays beach Monday, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A man was arrested after a tense standoff during which he barricaded himself for hours in a vehicle with a handgun at a Hampton Bays beach Monday, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, the incident began at 1:30 p.m. at Meschutt Beach; more than three hours later, at 4:51 p.m., Paul Zieser, 51, of Hampton Bays was arrested. He faces several charges that will be specified at a later time, police said.
The police department's patrol officers, detective division, emergency services unit, and bay constables, as well as New York State Police and K-9 unites, East Hampton Town's emergency service unit, and the United State Coast Guard all responded to the location.

Area residents, beachgoers, and boaters were kept a safe distance away from the area so the
incident could be resolved peacefully, police said.
