Man Charged With Speeding While Intoxicated In Westhampton: PD

WESTHAMPTON, NY — A Florida man was arrested and charged with speeding and driving while intoxicated in Westhampton early Saturday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Matthew R. Leconche, 40, was pulled over on Montauk Highway near Sea Breeze Avenue at 2:03 a.m. Police said he had been exceeding the posted speed limit, failing to keep right, and failing to maintain the vehicle within the marked travel lane. An investigation revealed that he was operating his vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

Leconche was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said. He was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
