Man Held Up At Gunpoint In Armed Robbery At Speonk Home: Cops

The armed gunman fired at a man before he was arrested, police say.

SPEONK, NY — A Mastic man was arrested after an armed robbery at a home in Speonk Thursday night, police said.

Jonel J. Miles, 28, of Mastic, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, Southampton town police said.

According to police, at 10:30 p.m., a 911 call came in from the caller, who said three men, who had been let into the residence by his cousin, rushed him.

One man pointed a firearm at him while two others stole money from him; the three men then fled the residence on foot as he chased them, police said. He stopped running after them when the robber with the handgun fired at him, police said.

Southampton town police patrol officers, New York state troopers, Westhampton Beach police, and Quogue village police responded to the scene; Southampton detectives are investigating and continuing the search for the other men involved, police said.
