Man Pulled From Burning Home On Long Island Dies: Police
The 71-year-old man was the only one inside the Hampton Bays home when the fire broke out, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY— A man pulled from the second floor of a burning home in Hampton Bays Wednesday has died, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, Frank Holecek, 71, of Mildred Place, was the only person home at the time of the fire, which broke out at 9:49 a.m. The Hampton Bays Fire Department tried to save him, pulling him from the home and transporting him to an area hospital, where he died, police said.
Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance, Flanders Volunteer Ambulance, Westhampton Ambulance, East Moriches Ambulance, Southampton Fire Department, the Flanders Fire Department, East Quogue Fire Department, and Southampton Fire Department all responded to provide additional assistance in knocking down the blaze; the Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad is investigating the cause of the fire, police said.
