Opa! New Greek Eatery Wowing Crowds In Hampton Bays
There's a new gyro place in Hampton Bays, and the menu is amazing and affordable. Who else is glad to have Greek food in town?
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Step into Hampton Gyro & Grill in Hampton Bays and it's like stepping into a taverna in Athens, welcomed by festive Greek music and tantalizing aromas.
The eatery, located at 252-1 West Montauk Hwy. in the Tiana Shopping Plaza at the site of the former Moe's Southwest Grill, opened on Sept. 24 — and has been delighting hungry customers ever since with a menu offering a wide array of Greeks specialties and American favorites, too.
Owner of the family business Mike Dzanoucakis, who grew up in Queens and now lives in Manorville, said he feels he's found the ideal location.

"Hampton Bays was a good spot for this concept because there is no fast, casual place serving Greek/American favorites and American classics," he said.
When the concept was born for Hampton Gyro, Dzanoucakis said his vision was "a quick-service, in-and-out type of place that serves quality food at a fair price."

The mouthwatering menu includes a selection of Greek classics such as grape leaves; tzatziki; Greek avgolemono, or chicken lemon, soup; gyros, in both classic style and specialties such as a Buffalo chicken gyro and a gyro cheesesteak; chicken and pork souvlaki; gyro, souvlaki and falafel bowls; Greek salad, spanakopita, pastitsio and moussaka.
Specials of the day on a recent visit included a shrimp souvlaki pita and a Greek feta burger.
American fare includes wraps, salads, burgers, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, wings, hot dogs and more.
Dzanoucakis has fond memories of Greek recipes in childhood; today, his favorites remain the classic gyro and spinach pie.
With more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant business with his father Bill, Dzanoucakis is thrilled to welcome patrons to an eatery close to his heart — and it's a dining destination many have embraced eagerly.
"The community has been very welcoming and seems to be happy we are here," Dzanoucakis said. "We are happy to be a part of the Hampton Bays community."
Hampton Gyro is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily through spring, when hours will be extended. For additional information, call 631-856-4101.
