Police: Mattituck Man Arrested at Hospital After Abusing Staff

A highly intoxicated man hurled loud obscenities at Eastern Long Island Hospital staff who called cops

The Southold Police arrested a Mattituck man for obstructing governmental administration, a second degree misdemeanor.

On August 17, Arturo Zitarosa, 55, was arrested at approximately 7:42 in the evening at the Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. He arrived at the hospital and began shouting obscenities at the staff and those waiting to be seen for treatment. He was “highly irate,” according to the police report, and the hospital called the police to diffuse the situation. When the Southold cops arrived Zitarosa continued to use violent language towards the staff.

The Southold police arrested Zitarosa at the scene and took him back to police headquarters where he continued to be combative forcing the police to restrain him.
