Students Win 3rd Place In National Virtual Enterprise Competition

The Westhampton Beach classmates were competing against 600 students nationwide, the district says.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A group of Westhampton Beach High School students have made their hometown proud, earning third place nationwide in a virtual enterprise national business plan competition.

“This was an amazing accomplishment for our students, as they competed against approximately 600 schools from across the country,” said Westhampton Beach High School's virtual enterprise teacher Amy Demchak.

To earn the placement, Valerie Finke, Jackie Glaser, Jade Jackey, Bridget Lopez, and Emma Strebel designed and presented their own virtual business, the district said.

Their startup, a virtual financial education company, "produces short, engaging videos in an effort to improve financial literacy among their Generation Z consumer base," the district said.

The company's “revenue” is generated from business advertisements that appear at the end of their videos, allowing them to provide their educational videos for free, the district said.

The company also offers scholarship searches, tutoring services, and financial webinars; their video series, “Mo’ Tips,” is available free on YouTube, the district said.
