Westhampton Beach Teachers Release New Educational App
The app was released recently on iTunes.

Three Westhampton Beach Elementary School teachers recently released a new educational app, Teacher Says Handwriting, on iTunes.
The app was created by kindergarten teachers, Lisa Julian, Dawn Belson and James Owens.
The teachers, who use iPads in their classrooms, found that current educational apps were not cutting it when it comes to teaching kindergarteners the skills they need to learn to form letters properly.

“The existing apps didn’t teach kids how to write on paper,” Julian said.
The app provides students with the ability to choose “paper” that provides two and three lines to “write” their letters on.

It also allows for the selection of lower and uppercase letters, as well as different colored writing tools.
The teachers plan to use the proceeds from the sale of the app, which costs $1.99 to download, to create updates to the app and also create a new math app to teach students about ten frames.
