Westhampton PAL Football Wins Championship

Westhampton Hurricanes 11U wins Suffolk County PAL Championship

On Saturday, November 8th at the Westhampton Beach High School, the Westhampton Hurricanes (Canes) faced off against the Comeswogue Warriors to determine the 11 year old football champions. The Warriors arrived with a record of 8 Wins and 1 Tie while the home favorite Canes were undefeated with 9 straight Wins.

In the end the Canes were victorious, defeating the Warriors 26-14. Canes scored with touchdown runs by Aidan Cassara and Ethan Aubé. Extra Points were provided by Liam McMunn and Matthew Daleo. Hurricane Head Coach Rick Freda told the players afterwards “You never gave up, you played your hardest and left everything you had on the field. For that alone you can call yourself Champions.”

The Hurricane Offense was led by Quarterbacks Daniel Cooper and Ian Recchion. The backfield was comprised of Aidan Cassara, Aidan Garcia and Ethan Aubé. The offensive line had Center Eric Schaumloffel, Michael Amitrano, Jayden Holmes, Hank Scherer, Jack Maloney, Anthony Mattera and James O’Neil.

The Defensive was held together by Ethan Aube, Jack Maloney, Anthony Mattera, Michael Amitrano, Kai Barry, Gonzalo Garcia, Aidan Cassara, Jayden Holmes, Aidan Garcia, Liam McMunn and Ty Murphy. They were supported by the finest of teammates Matthew Gomez, Matt Daleo, Aidan Quinlan, Dillon Canavan, George Spadafora, Evan Caldwell, Matt Giere, Collin Springer, Tomo Freda, Hank Scherer, Matt Gomez, Nick Loiola and Albenzie Mancino.

The Westhampton Hurricanes had one of there largest teams ever assembled with 27 players. For the Canes, this was there first Championship Win as team that has been playing together for at least 4 years. The team was coached by Rick Freda, Frank Cooper, Joe Recchion, Mike Mattera and Patrick Aube.

The Canes ended the season with a record of 10 Wins 0 Losses. They allowed 79 Points and Scored 208.

9/28- Westhampton vs Smithtown 14-0

10/5- Westhampton vs Patchogue Medford 25-13

10/19- Westhampton vs Bayport 19-13

10/26- Westhampton vs Patchogue Medford (Playoff) 26-12

11/2- Westhampton vs Smithtown (Playoff) 20-12

11/8- Westhampton vs Comeswogue (Championship) 26-14
