Where is Bridget Fleming?
This year’s campaign season started in February 2019; here we are 7 months later and we have not seen or heard much of anything from incumbent Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming.
I have been running a vigorous, issues-oriented campaign, attending many community events and civic meetings on a listening tour throughout the South Fork Legislative District. Rarely, have I seen Bridget Fleming out on the campaign trail.

Here’s the difference between us – At the Beach Clean-Up in Sag Harbor on September 21, while I was working hands-on to actually pick up trash to clean up the beach with members of the Hamptons Chapter of Long Island Board of Realtors, she was working the crowd to meet and greet people with a photographer in tow to take photos of her.
For Bridget, it’s about the photo op – not about the mission at hand.

At the very popular annual clambake in Flanders in July, Bridget was there for maybe 30 minutes, spoke with just a few people such as the Legislative Aide to the North Fork County Legislator, but then took her dinner to go and left. Those folks were her constituents - many year-round residents who vote and deserve representation that truly cares about people from all walks of life - not just the upper one-percenters.
Here’s the problem with many political people who are elected to local government positions in the Hamptons, they start to hang out at the ritzy events to appear in society page photo spreads with celebrities and to troll for campaign dollars from the rich and famous. The incumbent County Legislator has become the liberal society darling and has forgotten about the rest of us here.
We need a voice to advocate for the critical issues facing our region, and with a true understanding of fiscal responsibility.
Showboating and petty political bickering along partisan lines is not what best serves the public. Bridget Fleming needs to focus on the true job duties of the office of County Legislator, which is serve as the checks and balances to the County Executive on the financial front and to set all county-wide policies.
The job of a County Legislator is not to solely be an environmental advocate or present Proclamations to honorees at different community events. A County Legislator needs to take seriously their duty to protect the taxpayers’ best interests and to ensure fiscal solvency for the municipality while prioritizing public safety and well-being for the community.
Unfortunately, one-party rule has created a culture of arrogance and entitlement while driving the County’s finances to the brink of insolvency.
It’s time for a change; It’s time for more efficient, responsive government and for more effective representation.
On the several issues, Bridget Fleming and I do not agree – and that’s what elections are about: different viewpoints on the issues and choosing the candidate whose vision for the County lines up with yours. Elections are about Choice. For more info about my viewpoints, please visit campaign website:LindaKabotForSuffolk.com
On Election Day, November 5, I hope to earn your vote of confidence.
