Woman Charged With DWI After East Quogue Crash: Police

EAST QUOGUE, NY — A woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash in East Quogue Wednesday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place at 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Old Country Road and Montauk Highway when Shanna R. Nelson, 39, of Hampton Bays, crashed into a telephone pole.

After an investigation, Nelson was found to be intoxicated; she was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for medical evaluation and then arrested and charged with DWI, first offense, a misdemeanor, and issued a field appearance ticket, police said.
