1 CO Resigns, Another Suspended In Wake Of Inmate Suicide

VALHALLA, NY — One Westchester County correction officer resigned and another was suspended during an investigation into the apparent suicide of Milton McNicholas, 55, of Hastings-on-Hudson. On July 30, he was found in his cell after having taken his own life.

The correction officer who resigned was a probationary employee, according to the Journal News, and the other officer was suspended for 30 days unpaid.

McNicholas was being held without bail for allegedly violating probation when he died.

Per protocol, deaths in custody are investigated by the county Department of Correction, county police and the state Commission of Correction.
