1 Dead In White Plains Apartment Fire

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A woman died as a result of a fire Monday morning in a White Plains apartment building. The blaze began in a second-floor unit, fire officials said.

Dozens of people fled the six-story building at 170 Grand St. when the fire started around 7 a.m., News 12 reported.

There were no working fire alarms, residents said, and neighbors were banging on each other's doors alerting them to the fire.

Authorities have not released the victim's name.
