The following obituary Charles J. Wassil, Jr. of White Plains, NY, formerly of Putnam Valley passed away on May 1, 2013. He was 52 years old. Charles was a Detective with the City of Peekskill Police Department and a First Responder on September 11, 2001. Prior to working for the City of Peekskill he was an Officer at the 44th Precinct in the Bronx from 1986-1990.

He was born on May 25, 1960 in Peekskill to Charles and Virginia Guzi Wassil, Sr. He attended Hendrick Hudson High School graduating in 1977. Charles served in the US Marine Corps. (1977-1983). On May 11, 2012 he married Angela Vigorito in White Plains, NY. Charles was a licensed pilot, a member of the Peekskill PBA and the “Wild Pigs” Police Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Wassil of White Plains, a sister Judy Ryan of Mt. Pocono, PA and a niece Laura Rutkoski of Maryland. He also leaves behind many family members and friends.

Visitation is Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, 10AM at St. Columbanus  Church, Cortlandt Manor. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
