City Program Aims to Link Generations

Calling all senior citizens interested in sharing their experiences and participating in ongoing and
planned activities with our youth.

The City of White Plains Department of Recreation and Parks Senior Program and the Youth Bureau are partnering to provide a rewarding program for our seniors and youth. The City of White Plains Inter-Generational Program gives both younger and older residents a chance to get to know each other by sharing their similarities and differences and learn from one another while participating in fun and interactive activities.

The benefits of inter-generational programs are many. For youth, the program brings an opportunity to build trust and a comfort level with adults and it provides youth with positive role models. For the adults, the program provides a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community in a positive way.

A natural outgrowth for both the adults and youth in the program is that the interactions often broaden ones views and perspective on life and the world we live in.

The Intergenerational group will meet on Wednesdays from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the City of White Plains Recreation & Parks Community Center, 65 Mitchell Place.

There is no cost to participate in this program. Bus transportation will be provided to seniors at the end of the day.
