Local Couple to Display Art at White Plains Library

The White Plains Public Library is pleased to announce the opening of a gallery show—the artwork of Bob and Berenice Pliskin. 

The show opens in the Library’s Museum Gallery on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 with an artists’ reception from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibit will be on display from Oct. 1 through Nov. 16. Berenice Pliskin will give a demonstration of the painting on silk technique on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.

Bob and Berenice Pliskin, husband and wife, are longtime residents of White Plains. Bob Pliskin got into photography through his love of topography. He then expanded his photographic vision beyond landscape to include all subjects that presented themselves to him as having aesthetic potential.

Berenice Pliskin has been a working silk painter for 20 years. Her paintings have been exhibited widely and featured in news media and museums. Berenice incorporates her life experiences into her art and produces pieces that are remarkable for their color and imagery. One of her recent series reflects her interest in the Hispanic community.

This exhibit is made possible by The Friends of the White Plains Public Library with assistance from The City of White Plains.  Museum gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.  

The Library is located at 100 Martine Avenue, White Plains.
