White Plains Asked to 'Make a Difference'

The City of White Plains will join community groups across the nation in participating in Make A Difference Day, on Saturday, October 27.

Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. Last year, 3 million Americans participated in service projects on Make A Difference Day.

As part of Make A Difference Day, the White Plains Youth Bureau will host a shoe drive to aid the Help Children of God not-for-profit organization of Haiti. Gently used or new shoes can be dropped off at the White Plains Youth Bureau, 11 Amherst Place, on Saturday, October 27 between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

In addition to the shoe drive, there are many other ways that residents and businesses can make a difference right here in White Plains as well as throughout Westchester County, including tutoring, helping a senior citizen or someone who is homebound, becoming a mentor, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on a build in White Plains, feeding the hungry, and much more.
