Bronx Man Arraigned On 47-Count Indictment From 2019 Burglaries

Omar Willis failed to appear in court for arraignment two times in October and was eventually arrested in Virginia, authorities said.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Five months after he didn't show up for court, a Bronx man was returned to Westchester County and arraigned on a 47-count indictment related to a string of burglaries in 2019.

Omar Willis and co-defendants Latiek Frazier and Thomas Ricketts face charges stemming from burglaries in August and September 2019 in Bronxville, Hartsdale, Larchmont, Mount Vernon, Pelham Manor, Rye Brook, the city of Rye and Yonkers.

The three were accused of committing 10 separate home burglaries and, in two instances, attempted home burglaries.

Willis failed to appear in court for arraignment two times in October, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested in Virginia several weeks ago and waived extradition.

He is currently being held at the Westchester County Jail.

Police said the three men stole cash, jewelry, televisions, cameras, luggage, designer watches, designer handbags and shoes, collector baseball cards, credit cards and a Porsche automobile valued at more than $100,000.

After finding a 300-pound safe in the bedroom of one home, prosecutors said they threw it down the stairs and hauled it away, causing thousands of dollars of damage.

They also took items of sentimental value including heirloom jewelry and birth certificates, Social Security cards and other historical family documents, police said.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah said the three men not only stole valuables but robbed the families of their sense of security in their own homes.

"Some of these families lost cherished family keepsakes and irreplaceable family documents that were handed down over generations," she said.

Among the charges Willis is facing are 10 counts of second-degree burglary and 10 counts of varying degrees of grand larceny, all felonies, as well as multiple counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

Ricketts also failed to appear in court and is still at large. Frazier was arraigned and is out on bail.
