City Organizations Offer Chance to Recharge

There is a growing list of White Plains groups and organizations opening their doors to residents without power.

Several White Plains businesses and organizations have opened their doors to residents who need a place to plug-in, recharge and relax.

The following organizations are open for residents as of Monday.

St. Gregory Church: Located at 1131 North Street – is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for warmth, electricity and coffee.

Contact: Councilman Dennis Krolian, 914- 263-1020, if you would like to go over to the church and he will call ahead to make sure you are welcomed.

Grace Church Community Center: Located at the corner of Main and Church Streets in downtown White Plains. The church’s client services have continued to operate, including the soup, which continues to serve a hot midday meal daily.

MHA of Westchester: Servicing people with mental health disabilities, MHA staff ensures that theseindividuals have what they need. Contact: Amy Kohn, 914-330-6718

ArtsWestchester: ArtsWestchester will have a coffee pot going at its headquarters at 31 Mamaroneck Ave., as well as power strips for those who need them. See an exhibit while you charge.

United Way’s 2-1-1: Serving as a resource for people who are looking for information about storm recovery and lessening pressure to 9-1-1 and other government agencies. United Way is also initiating a Westchester Disaster Recovery Fund in collaboration with Westchester County. This will address longterm recovery, after immediate response efforts have been completed.
