Coronavirus: County Active Cases At Lowest Point Since November
The county executive said 29 percent of Westchester residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — The number of active cases of the new coronavirus in Westchester County, while at the lowest point since late November, continue to drop, but not dramatically.
At the first of his twice-weekly briefings Monday, County Executive George Latimer gave an update on the county's progress against the virus.
According to the county tracker, there were 5,036 active cases of the coronavirus reported for Sunday, down from 5,233 from Monday.

Latimer said that, at some point, the rise in vaccination numbers should start yielding the next significant downturn in positive cases of the virus.
The number of vaccinations given out at the Westchester County Center is now at 125,000. Another 16,000 have been administered at the Armory in Yonkers and 25,000 at the two county clinics.
That brings the total number of doses given out in Westchester to 175,000.
The state vaccine tracker shows that 150,000 Westchester residents have completed the vaccine series — either the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. There are 289,000 residents who have had at least one vaccine dose.
Latimer said those numbers mean 15 percent of Westchester residents have completed getting the vaccine and an additional 29 percent have gotten at least one dose.
"We want that to continue to rise," he said.
The state announced the expansion of vaccine eligibility to people age 50 effective Tuesday. Up until Monday, the threshold mandated that only people 60 and older could be vaccinated, unless there were underlying conditions.
