Double Lane Closures Expected On I-684

The state Department of Transportation said that motorists should be advised that various double lane closures are expected on Interstate 684 northbound and southbound, between Exit 1 (Interstate 287/Split to Interstate 684 spur) and Exit 3 (Route 22), daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 through Saturday, April 27, while crews perform maintenance activities, weather permitting.

Motorists should anticipate delays and plan accordingly.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

The DOT said that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
