Cabernet is King Wine Tasting Master Class at Morton's Steakhouse, Cabernet: The Hardy Grape Revealed!

Morton's The Steakhouse in White Plains will host a Cabernet is King Wine Tasting Seminar and Master Class on Friday, October 14th from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. The guest speaker for the evening will be Morton's Sommelier Michael Khorosh.

Khorosh will lead an interactive and engaging evening where attendees will enjoy six different cabernets paired with Morton's signature hors d'oeuvres while earning their "Morton's Associate Sommelier" certificate. The cost is $49.00 per guest inclusive of tax and gratuity. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Kim O'Donnell at 914-683-6101 or kim_odonnell@mortons.com.

Michael Khorosh is the General Manager at Morton's The Steakhouse in Hackensack which is where he began his career with Morton's in 2003. He assisted with the opening of the White Plains Morton's location in 2004 and served as that location's Food and Beverage Manager for two years. He went on to be promoted to Assistant Manager in Stamford and was certified as a sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2007.  He then went on to help open the Brooklyn location of Morton's and served as Assistant Manger and was then transferred to the Fifth Avenue location where he served as Assistant General Manager. In June of this year Khorosh was promoted to General Manager for the Hackensack location.

Khorosh was born and raised in Rockland County where he worked at Café Dolce in Suffern as a bus boy at the age of 15. At age 18 he took over the day to day operations of that location. He will be leading the Cabernet is King Wine Tasting and answering attendee questions during the lively evening.

"Originally a cross between cabernet franc and sauvignon blanc, cabernet is a hardy style grape that can grow nearly anywhere. Cabernet grapes do well in warm regions as well as cold but take on different flavor profiles depending upon where they are grown; the different climates change the grape itself," states Khorosh. He added, "Cabernet is a great winter wine and great wine to pair with steak thanks to its thicker skin and abundance of tannin which likes to attach itself to the protein molecules in a well cooked steak. The digestion process actually starts in your mouth and sends a chemical reaction to your brain which says, 'this is perfect together!'"
