Metro-North Employee Injured In Explosion Dies
The man and another employee were injured when one of their cars exploded.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A White Plains resident and Metro-North employee died Nov. 24 after being injured in an explosion in a train yard parking lot in October. Gerald Schroeder, 67, and another employee were injured when one of their cars exploded.
The railroad cannot confirm whether the death was related to the incident in October, the Journal News said, but his obituary said he died from injuries sustained in the explosion.
Schroeder is survived by his wife of 30 years, Meg, three daughters, four brothers and one sister, two great aunts and two grandchildren.

He was a plumber of 47 years, working at Martino Plumbing for 37 years and Metro-North for eight years.
A funeral service was held Nov. 30 with a memorial service held the following day.
