Cognitive Behavioral Consultants to Conduct Professional Training for OCD and Tourette Syndrome
Cognitive Behavioral Consultants (CBC) will host “Obsessive Compulsive (OCD) and Tourette Syndrome Across the Lifespan,” a two-day OCD and Tourette’s training program from April 8th - 9th at the Schwartzberg Training Center at CBC, located at 1 North Broadway in White Plains, New York. Dr. Douglas Woods and Dr. Lata K. McGinn will lead the training workshop, which is tailored for professionals interested in treating OCD, tics and Tourette’s.
Participants will learn how to:

- Correctly assess, diagnose, and differentiate OCD from commonly co-occurring disorders.
- Understand and explain the model of OCD and CBT to children, families, and adults, make an effective treatment plan, and obtain motivation for treatment.
- Build a hierarchy and execute/troubleshoot exposures for various obsessive themes.
- Learn to Implement and troubleshoot CBT strategies.
- Recognize and understand the phenomenology of Tourette Syndrome.
- Grasp the theoretical and empirical evidence underlying the use of CBT for Tourette Syndrome.
- Learn the structure and function of CBT for tics (CBIT).
- Apply habit reversal training.
“By definition, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette syndrome (TS) are highly comorbid and complex, heterogeneous conditions that lead to significant impairment in functioning,” states Dr. McGinn co-founder of Cognitive Behavioral Consultants. “Our goal during the two-day workshop is to teach practical ways to assess and diagnose OCD and TS and differentiate them from other related disorders. In addition, we are excited to share ways to treat OCD and TS effectively in both pediatric and adult populations by presenting evidence-based therapies developed by world renowned OCD and TS experts.”
Cognitive Behavioral Consultants, SW CPE. CBC is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board of Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0219. CBC is also an approved provider of CE credits for licensed psychologists. Twelve (12) Continuing Education Credit Hours will be offered for this training to NY social workers and all psychologists.
