Possible Sale of Galleria Mall, Says Mayor Roach

A deal to sell the Galleria Mall in White Plains is currently being negotiated, according to Mayor Thomas Roach.

Details of the sale, should it materialize, have not been disclosed. The shopping center is owned by Simon Property Group, which also owns The Westchester.

“There’s a buyer and a deal is in the works,” Roach told The Journal News. “We’re waiting for a deal to be complete.”

The mall, which has a Sears and a Macy’s as its anchor stores, has lost some luster in recent years, and could be ripe for a resurgence if new owners do some upgrades and renovations.

“It’s an old-style mall, which is basically a box,” Roach added. “It doesn’t have any city engagement.”
