Rapper DMX Hospitalized After Drug Overdose: Reports
The 50-year-old rapper is currently in critical condition in a Hudson Valley hospital, according to reports.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Rapper DMX is reportedly in "grave condition" after experiencing a heart attack following an apparent drug overdose, according to reports.
The 50-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, overdosed at his home around 11 p.m. Friday, according to reports by TMZ and Variety. Sources told TMZ that he has “some brain activity,” while others said he's reportedly in a “vegetative state" at White Plains Hospital.
DMX, who was born in Mount Vernon, started rapping in the early 1990s. His debut album, "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot," was released in 1998.

In July 2017, the rapper was charged with 14 federal counts of tax fraud and he pled guilty to a single county in November 2017. He was freed pending sentencing but was sent to jail in January 2018 after leaving a court-ordered drug treatment program and relapsing with cocaine and oxycodone.
