Skills for Promoting Success – A Workshop Series for Parents of Young Adults
Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC) in White Plains will offer a group to help parents of young adults with regulating their emotions. The group was formed in recognition of the unique developmental demands of the teen years.
The next program series starts October 29th and runs for 14 weeks from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at 1 North Broadway in the Schwartzberg Training Center of CBC.

The group is for parents whose young adults need support to regulate emotions and impulses and will cover:
•Educating family members on understanding emotion regulation and how to achieve it
•Learning how to understand problem behaviors exhibited by your family member and why they continue
•Learning how to promote effective communication and improved emotional functioning
•Learning intra-family communication strategies and vocabulary to maintain an environment that is based

The group will discuss mindful parenting, increasing effective communication skills, coping with emotionally intense moments, increasing effective responses and decreasing problematic behaviors, among other topics. Each group will include a review of skills used during the week, time to connect with other parents and presentation of new material.
