Stepinac HS Delivers Meals To White Plains Hospital Workers

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Stepinac showed its appreciation to the front-line workers by delivering 200 meals to employees of White Plains Hospital and the White Plains Police Department. The organizers held a Stepinac High School community fundraiser which allowed the meals to be prepared by The Rye Roadhouse in Rye, whose owners are Stepinac alumni Jonathan Demarco (Class of ’91) and Gregory Demarco (Class of ’93).

A group of students including Chris DeMartrino, Ryan Caserta, Jamie Padilla, Matt DiLullo and Eddie Ramos, along with Stepinac’s varsity Crusaders football team head coach Mike O’Donnell and assistant coach Joseph Venice (Class of ’04), delivered 150 meals to White Plains Hospital’s health-care workers. Fifty meals were later delivered to the White Plains Police Department.

In addition to the support of The Rye Roadhouse, Metro Team Outfitters helped to set up the fundraiser and made a donation as well.

Since the new coronavirus crisis began, the Stepinac community has been actively engaged in supporting front- line workers. Among the campaigns have been sophomore John Prince of Valhalla and his two friends at other Westchester high schools successfully raising money to help bring meals to the night shifts of health-care workers of area hospitals while, at the same time, helping local restaurants. Alumnus Jim Scully (Class of ’80), partner of Scully Construction, and his team donated and delivered 120 hot meals to White Plains Hospital.
