SUNY, CUNY To Waive Application Fees For Veterans, Spouses

The Board of Trustees for both SUNY and CUNY will include resolutions during their next board meetings to implement the change.

If you are a veterans or are married to one, SUNY and CUNY will not require application fees. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the change Sunday.

Applicants are usually required to pay a fee ranging from $50 to $65 when applying to state-operated campuses. That fee will now be waived for all veterans and their spouses.

"Generations of New Yorkers have fought to preserve the freedoms and ideals of this state and nation at great personal sacrifice, and we must do everything we can to support them once they get home," Cuomo said.

He said waiving the application fees will help veterans take steps in adapting back to civilian life and will help ensure they have the tools they need to succeed," he said.
