Westchester Clerk Democratic Primary To Be Decided By Absentees
The incumbent Clerk Tim Idoni has a small lead over challenger Shanae Williams, according to unofficial results.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — It's up to the absentee ballots now to determine who the Democratic candidate for Westchester County clerk will be on the November general election ballot.
According to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections, with all districts reporting, incumbent Timothy Idoni leads challenger Shanae Williams by 2 percent of the votes.
The votes totals are 15,046 for Idoni and 14,725 for Williams, a difference of 321.

Idoni said in a Facebook post that he's confident the absentee ballots will give him a favorable result.
"But that count won't start for at least another week," he said.

Idoni's campaign said there were 5,257 absentee ballots that had not been returned as of Tuesday, the Journal News reported.
Idoni has been the Westchester county clerk since 2006, having also served as New Rochelle mayor from 1996 to 2005 and Ardsley village manager from 1985 to 1990. He has a master's degree in public administration from New York University and was granted an honorary doctorate from Iona College.
Williams is a councilwoman for Yonkers 1st District. She immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 9 and is a graduate of Yonkers Public Schools and Hastings High School. She has a master's degree in business administration from Walden University.
