Westchester Vaccine Stock Healthy Despite J&J Pause
County Executive George Latimer said more than 44 percent of Westchester's population has received at least one coronavirus vaccine dose.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County has plenty of coronavirus vaccines available for those who want to get them.
County Executive George Latimer said Thursday during a news conference that the county stock of vaccines is healthy in spite of the county not administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because of the blood-clot concern.
He said that, unfortunately, the J&J vaccine, which was developed to be a one-shot dose, was logistically better for the county to use in instances where getting someone to return for a second dose wasn't practical and giving shots to people who are homebound.
