White Plains Businessman Swings Away at Golf
He's headed to the Golf Channel-sponsored Western Open at PGA West in California this coming weekend.

WHITE PLAINS, NY - Kenneth R. Strati, a lifelong White Plains businessman and a right-winger on the White Plains High School hockey team in 1966-68, has been lifting his golf game ever since taking up the oft-frustrating sport at an advanced age of 40.
“Going from skates to cleats I have to say was much more comfy on the feet,” Strati said. “The golf swing is almost the same as a slap shot; the transition to golf was very simple. My advice to newbies is to swing through the ball, not at it! And most importantly have fun. Life is too short.”

Strati, who now plays to a 5-handicap at 65, added another notch to his belt earlier this month, teaming with Yonkers native Joseph Macchia to win the two-man/best-ball title in a field of 22 teams at Haig Point Golf Club in Dafauskie Island, SC.

Strati, an erstwhile member at Rye GC and Centennial GC in Carmel, owns and operates Mass Finishing Technologies in the county seat city, a business now in its 36th year in various forms.
Leading up to victory at Haig Point, Strati finished second at the Palmetto Seniors Open in Charleston, SC; was second again in a Partners/Best Ball event hosted by Hilton Head Island at Oldfield GC; was second for a third time at the Hilton Head Island Amateur Golf Association two-man contest at Moss Creek GC; and added a victory in the Palmetto Seniors, held at Cougar Point GC on Kiawah Island.
Strati, who with his wife, Ann Marie Blanda, maintains homes in golf-crazed Blufftown, SC, and Palm Springs, CA, is feeling the pressure to play well in the Golf Channel-sponsored Western Open at PGA West April 2-3 in Indio, CA.
“If I come in third or higher, including ties, I move on to the national finals,” Strati noted. “Holy mackerel – too much pressure but one way or the other I will be sure to have fun.”
