White Plains HS Girls Swim Team Brings Home Championship

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The White Plains High School girls swimming and diving team is now a state champion. Eighth grader Alexa Reyna won the state title in the 500 freestyle with an all-American time of 4:47:80 at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association meeting, according to a spokeswoman.
The meet was held at Ithaca College in November.
Officials said this is a new Section 1 and school record.

Reyna also placed fifth in the 200 freestyle, and teammate Claire Weinsten had fifth place in the 500 and ninth in the 200 freestyle.
Both were on the 200 freestyle relay team which set a new school record.

The team won the League 2 title this year with an undefeated 9-0 record.
The team's coach is Patty Gilmartin.
