White Plains Man Convicted in Fatal Port Chester Shooting
Jaerue Williams, 27, of White Plains, was convicted of manslaughter for the fatal shooting of Wilfredo Rivera in Port Chester on Aug. 11, 2012. Williams was on parole for two separate felony convictions at the time of the shooting.

White Plains man was convicted of first-degree manslaughter today for the fatal shooting of a Port Chester man last year.
Jaerue Williams, 27, of White Plains, will be sentenced on Feb 18 for felony counts of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the fatal shooting of Wilfredo Rivera in Port Chester. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.
“Collaborative multi-jurisdictional detective work throughout Westchester County linked this defendant to the most recent felonies that this defendant committed,” Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a statement. “With today’s conviction, this defendant will finally be held accountable for his persistent and violent felony career.”.

On Aug. 11, 2012, at about 12:15 am, Port Chester Police responded to 16 S. Regent after a report of a shooting. They found that 21-year-old Wilfredo Rivera of Port Chester had been taken to Greenwich Hospital by several friends. Rivera, who was shot once in the chest at close range, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Port Chester Police later identified Williams as the gunman in the fatal incident and arrested him on Aug. 18, 2012, on a parole violation. Williams was on parole stemming from 2010 felony convictions on Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree in Mount Vernon and Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree in Mamaroneck Village.

He was then indicted on Sept. 26, 2012, for his role in a home burglary in Larchmont. Larchmont Police identified the Williams during the course of an investigation into a residential burglary that was reported on Aug. 12, 2012 and was captured on video surveillance.
Williams pled guilty to the burglary charge and his sentencing in that case is scheduled for Nov. 6.
