On Friday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m., we’ll discuss Dear Martin by Nic Stone. Over the summer, Dear Martin appeared on the 8th grade, 9th grade, and My Brother’s Keeper summer reading lists. We’re excited to have the chance to focus on this thought-provoking story in our book club. When we first meet main character Justyce, he’s trying to keep his ex-girlfriend from driving while drunk, the police misinterpret his actions and escalate the situation out of control. Over the next few months, Justyce processes this traumatic incident in the form of letters to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Martin is available as an eBook and digital audiobook through OverDrive and in the Library’s print collection. To register for the Zoom event, click here. You must have a Zoom account to attend this program; sign up for a free account here.
