12th Annual 'Bed-Stuy Alive!' Kicks off With Fulton Street Celebration on Saturday
Bed-Stuy Alive, a celebration of the neighborhood's people, art and culture starts this Saturday, Oct. 8.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Bed-Stuy Alive!, an outside celebration of the neighborhood's people, art and culture, kicks off this Saturday morning on Fulton St. with family-friendly activities planned for the entire day.
The event, now in its 12th year, is a chance for Bed-Stuy natives to meet their neighbors and share in the vibrancy of its arts, and to support small businesses and local restaurants throughout the week.
Bed-Stuy Alive! is Saturday Oct. 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Fulton St. between Brooklyn and Marcy Avenues.

The schedule is as follows:
10:00 a.m.– Opening ceremony: featuring the Tohma Y. Faulkner Community Trailblazer Awards, in the lobby of Restoration’s main building located at 1268 Fulton St.

Awardees this year include:
- Chinita Pointer, Executive Director of the Noel Pointer Foundation
- Bernice McRae, Community Leader
- Beatrice P. Jones, Owner of Good Samaritan Day Care Center and Honey Baked Ham and Cafe.
- Adofo Muhammad, Principal, Bedford Academy High School
12:00 p.m. – Restoration Rocks concert, featuring performances by Fantastic Negrito, Ryan Davis Harris, and DJ Reborn.
Also from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. a children's village will be open with a rock climbing wall provided by the NYPD, FDNY Smokehouse, face painting, arts and crafts, family-friendly games, book mobile, a game mobile and more, according organizers.
